My Cloth Diapering Journey Begins with AppleCheeks *
Have you heard of AppleCheeks diapers?
I am not particularly crunchy, or granola, or green. I mean, I get it, and I wish I had more of these leanings, but speaking in adjectives, I think I’m probably more on the soggy side, so when Katie, a representative from AppleCheeks diapers emailed me recently and asked me if I had ever considered cloth diapering, I was taken somewhat by surprise. Seriously? Cloth diapers?
I admitted to Katie that I had never really considered using cloth diapers, then, followed up with a barrage of questions, most of them involving poop. I mean, there are a lot of questions to be answered about poop (ahem, flushable liners!), stains, and washing, you know?
After clicking over to the AppleCheeks diapers website, and doing a little research about their system, I was left with a few thoughts. My first thought was holy wow, these diapers are cute. I am not going to kid you by pretending that the following considerations trump the cute factor, because they really don’t, however, I do love the idea of saving money, preserving the environment, and putting safer materials next to my baby’s skin.
Now, back to the cute. Just… look.

From the AppleCheeks diapers website:
New advances in textile technology allow for amazingly trim fitting washable diapers that unstuff by themselves in the wash!. Gone are the days of bulky plastic pants and saggy, wet bottoms. Pins and Snappis are a thing of the past. AppleCheeks cloth diaper bring you the ultimate in form and function, combining effective leak control with attractive styling. Imagine a dry bottom that actually looks good! Who knew? (from: applecheeks.com)

So, while I am a little nervous, I am going to give this a shot with our little girl when she is born in December. I’ve been reaching out to so many cloth diapering moms over the past few weeks, asking them pointed questions about their experience with cloth diapers, and trying to gauge whether or not this is something that I can handle. From what I am learning, cloth diapering is definitely doable for regular (non-superwoman) moms, and that the benefits are really incredible.
I am so excited to be working with AppleCheeks, and I feel like I was really lucky to have been contacted by this particular company. Almost every cloth diapering mom that I have reached out to for insight has confirmed that AppleCheeks is a fantastic brand, with a quality diaper and fabulous customer support. More to come as baby’s birth day draws near!
Disclosure: AppleCheeks diapers provided me with a selection of their products to try. Opinions are my own!

This is such a great idea! I did cloth diapers for a bit last time, but it was so gross. I ended up going to disposable diapers since after paying for diaper services – it ended up the SAME amount! But I think I would be able to manage these by myself! :D
Apple Cheeks diapers are the best! You will NOT be disappointed!
I am expecting my first babe and would love to try Apple Cheeks!!
I love cloth diapers because they’re safer for baby’s bottom, better for our planet and SO much cuter than yucky disposables!
You will love cloth diapering! Once you get the hang of things you will be surprised at how easy it really is! I am so glad I switched to cloth with my second baby. Now I am a old pro with my third. ;)
LOVE applecheeks. You and ur new babe will love them!! GL on cloth diapering!
I have been meaning to try cloth diapers and this would be perfect
I love cloth diapers because they are so much better for the environment and also the money we save.
We started off with cloth diapers to save money and we have but my reason I really love them is my boys are not getting chemicals out of every diaper, just a nice soft diaper
I love cloth because it is better for my baby, my budget, and the earth!
I love my cloth diapers. My daughter has never had a single diaper rash (even when plagued with stomach issues) and is so much happier in cloth. I won’t lie, I use disposables when the need arises (vacation, for certain grandparents and so on) but the smile my girl gives me when she gets back to her fluffies tells me cloth is the way to go!
With cloth diapers, my LO has never had a diaper rash…I love how happy they make his skin!
I want to try applecheeks because they are so cute and I would love not having to pull out the inserts of used pocket diapers!
We love cloth diapers because they are best for our baby, easy to use, and super cute. Applecheeks also happen to be our very favourite diaper. The fit is phenomenal, absorbency is great, and they look fabulous.
I love the trim fit, and the fact that they are a Canadian company! Would love to win this for baby number 2!!
Apple cheeks are just too gorgeous, that is why!
I am currently trying to switch to cloth diapers. I have the old fashion prefolds — Not liking them at all and neither is my son. I would love to try something different.
I love cloth diapers because they are so much better for our little one. It wasn’t until whe one time we used sposies while we were on an overnight trip that we realized just how much we love cloth! Also, cloth diapers are just SO cute :-)
My lil one is special needs and diapers get expensive. I want to try cloth diapers, but don’t beaver the money to get started, but love the look of apple cheeks!
I love the concept of the applecheeks system!
I love cloth diapers because they are better for the environment, better for my baby and so cute.
I only just started cloth diapering this month, and let me tell you, I’m in love. My son’s bottom looks so much happier, and I just feel GOOD about what I put on him now. Disposables made me feel dirty inside, and they weren’t even on my bottom!
Anyway, I’ve been looking into Apple Cheeks, and I’d really love to try them! They seem great!
I would LOVE TO WIN!!!! Thanks so much for the chance!
This is my first child to have CD’d with, but I love them especially for the cute factor as well…LOL
It started out as a way to save money with 2 kids in diapers but 6 months in and there are so many other reasons. The environment, not to mention all of the chemicals in sposies, also lower incidents of rashes and so on. My only suggestion to other newbies is invest or diy yourself a diaper sprayer. I would love to try Applecheeks because every diaper fits a little bit differently and I hope to try them all!
Like you I am planning to try cloth diapers when my little girl arrives in November. I have done a lot of research and am going to go with AppleCheeks. I’m glad to hear that I’m not the only one who is nervous and glad that it is something normal moms say is easy!
Aside from all the environmental stuff, and cute stuff…it takes the ickiest part of parenting and makes even that special.
Hi Crissy, I am a SAHM to 4 boys ranging in ages 9 years down to 3 months. I started my cloth diapering journey with #4 and love it so much I switched my 2 year old (who is semi-potty trained) to cloth as well! I have several different brands in my stash but Applecheeks are by far my favorite. They are super soft, the inserts are incredibly absorbant, easy to put on, easy to wash, and they are SO CUTE. I love all the vibrant colors! They are my “go to” diaper. You will love using them with your sweet little one when she arrives! Modern cloth diapering is so easy and financially smart (if you don’t get addicted to buying all the cute ones that come out and truly just buy what you need). If you use them on more than one baby then you really save money! I’m not a crunchy momma either so the environmental benefits are just an extra bonus for me. It has made me a little more aware though and I have caught myself a couple of times line drying clothes that don’t have to be. :)
I want to try AppleCheeks because I love the look and I love the trimness of them! Bulky diapers is probably my biggest CD complaint (but it’s not big enough to make me switch to disposables!).
I have not tried cloth diapers but I would really like to try!
very cute! i am planning on using the prefolds, but these look like a great alternative!
Well, aside from they are super cute, I love the fact they are made in Canada. Aside, from WAHM’s. It’s very rare to find a company that still manufactures in North America, Canada to be precise :) I am from Canada, but live in the US and long for stuff from Canada. I have yet to use the Applecheeks diapers, but I do have about 12 of the size 1′s for our new baby coming in feb. I just ordered two size 2 last week, can’t wait for them to get here and start using them. I have been using the bamboo inserts with my daughter and I love them. They are super absorbant, super soft, easy to clean and dry. I love all the colours, the prints are my fave of course, lol. I am very impatiently waiting for my two prints and flushable liners to arrive, hopefully this week! Hope that covers why I love Appleheeks! Oh and of course, they’re ‘green’!
I love Love love cloth diapering. Not only is it cute, but its so much easier and a TON cheaper than sposies. I have not tried applecheeks but would love to, i have heard great things.
BTW- Congrats on your new bundle and you will LOVE cloth, i promise.
I LOVE cloth diapers because of all the money they’ve saved me.I have spent less than $300 and will be able to finish out my daughter’s diapering years, plus use them with any future babies. As a SAHM, saving money is important to our family & I really wish I had started when I first looked into them when my second child was born in ’08, instead of waiting until my third was a year old this past June. But the main reason I could never go back to disposables is all the reading I’ve done about the chemicals that are in disposables. It’s a little frightening to think about what was wrapped around the bums of my first 2 kids for the first 2 1/2 years of their lives! Good luck with cloth & make sure you ask for help if you run into trouble…it’s nearly inevitable but there’s always someone out there who has battled the same problem & will be willing to help you!
We love applecheeks! We bought a few different brands to try and by far AppleCheeks are the favourite!
I want to try cloth diapers, but I haven’t quite taken the plunge yet…I love how Applecheeks look though, and do have one of their swim diapers, which is wonderful! They are a great company!
I’ve heard Applecheeks are the best….would love to try them out.
I like cloth diapers because they are environmental and I’d rather have cloth next to baby’s skin.
I adore my Applecheeks! I love the women behind this company, and I love the fit of these diapers on both my skinny little girl and my chunky-monkey baby boy. :)
I cloth diapered my son for a year and a half, and I LOVED it. Not only did it save me a ton of $$, it was easy and I LOVED the way it looked on his bum! I plan on cloth diapering my little girl too. Oh! And he never ever had diaper rash. Ever. It was awesome.
Thanks for the giveaway Crissy!
I use cloth diapers and would love to try Apple Cheeks!
I LOVE AppleCheeks!! They are awesome, and cloth diapering is pretty fun! :)
I LOVE AppleCheeks!! They are awesome, and cloth diapering is pretty fun! :)
I love cloth diapers because I know there are no harsh chemicals touching my baby’s skin!
i have heard so many good things about these! i have been looking for an opportunity to try them!
I would like to try applecheeks because I like that they are serged and have snap closures. Also I like the pocket design.
tannis_z at excite dot com
Hi, I use applecheeks and love them! I had never considered cd-ing with my first two cause I pictured pins, cotton squares, and plastic pants. But after realizing there are more options these days, I decided to give it a try with my youngest who is 7 months now. Recently, since she’s teething, she’s been doing #2 multiple times a day, so I’ve been a little frustrated with dealing with the poops, cause I don’t always use the disposable liners. So this morning I put her in a disposable cause I had some errands to run, and when I got back home put her on the floor to play while I make her lunch. When I went to get her, I discovered that she had pooped and it exploded all up her back! I have NEVER had a poop explosion with my cloth, and so I definitely prefer dealing with some poopy liners than whole wardrobe changes, cleaning floors and baths!
I love apple cheeks because it has 2 sizes that fit great!
I love the snaps on these diapers
We’ve used cloth now for a few years and through the ups and downs I still love how resourceful it feels .)
I love cloth diapering for the cuteness factor, the fact that I never have to run to the store to buy diapers and that I feel like I’m doing good for the environment. :)
I love CDs because they look cute and I am wasting less!
When my son was a baby 27+ years ago I cloth diapered. Boy, have they changed. I think cloth diapers are the way to go. And so much cheaper than disposables not to mention better for the environment. I would love to get my hand on some for my nephews girlfriend for her baby-to-be.
lkish77123 at gmail dot com
I would love to try AppleCheeks because it’s a fitted pocket style and they’re just so cute!
I love cloth diapers because:
!. They save money
2. They smell way less (hello, you dump the poop so there’s nothing to stink up baby’s room)
3. They are so cute
4. So squishy and fluffy. Love the fuff bottom!
5. There’s just something that feels good about not throwing all that yucky trash out every week
I’m a sucker for the designs and colors! I love cloth diapers!
I love cloth diapers because it is too much work for me to run to the store with 2 little ones in tow just to buy diapers. I would much rather just through a load in the wash:)
I like cloth diapers because they are economical, good for the environment, cost effective and totally cute!
I have bum genius and they work well, but it is hard to keep up with the laundry.
I love how cute and economical cloth diapers are. That they are keeping disposables out of landfills is just a plus.
I’m a first time mom to be and I REALLY want to do cloth diapering for my baby. I’ve heard really great things about these diapers and would love to have some in my stash!
i love cloth diapering because it’s fun and better for baby’s bottom. I love Applecheeks because they are awesome and because they don’t leak out the front when my baby sleeps on his tummy!
I’d love to try Applecheeks because they’re super cute and I can use the covers with the inserts OR my flats OR my prefolds OR my fitteds! :D
You will love cloth diapering… I didn’t start until my son was one (I got scared) and I wish I had started earlier because it is so not a big deal. I am going to continue with my next!
Things that make is easier:
cute rubber gloves (helps in getting motivated to clean off the poop)
sprayer attachment on toilet (must have)
a great washable antibacterial liner and/or cute planet wise bag to put them in
I LOVE AppleCheeks. They are my favourite. We never have leaks, blow outs and they get us through nap AND (over) 12 hour nights.
I love Apple Cheeks! I have their new print with the animals…adorable! I also love that they’re so trim.
I like being able to save money with cloth diapers
You sound exactly the same as I!! I never considered cloth diapering or anything really “green” until recently. But with the cost of disposables and a deepening interest in being “greener” around my home, I’d really like to try AppleCheeks for my 2 1/2 month old son :)
my sister is pregnant and due the end of november, we have decided to use cloth, and this would be great to add to our stash!!!
AppleCheeks are awesome because the colors are so bright, they’re trim fitting, & work great as a pocket or by laying the insert on top of the cover!
I love AppleCheeks because you don’t have to unstuff them!
I’ve heard reviews on lots of different cloth diapers, but these ones are the best-looking yet. Would love to try them out, both for financial and environmental reasons!
Like you, I’ve never cloth diapered before, but I’m thinking about doing it for my next kiddo in February.
I have twin girls who are still in diapers. I think your product would be great. I go through alot of diapers and this would be a great way to save money
I used borrowed cloth diapers for my daughter and now I am looking into buying my own for my son. I’m sick of ordering diapers by the truck load! These are super cute!
I found Applecheeks through Katie & she has me drooling over them. This is one of the last diapers that I want to try but haven’t yet.
I would love to try them because they look super soft!
id like to try applecheeks because i’ve heard great things!!

I have wanted to cloth diaper since I’ve had my twins. I’m on my 4th and last and would love to give it a try.
I love cloth because they’re cute, cost-effective, comfy for my baby and did I mention cute??? :)
I love cloth diapers because they’re more natural than disposables, cuter than disposables and better for the planet !
I love cloth diapering for so many reasons, but honestly even if it weren’t for all the other reasons I’d do it for the cuteness factor. :)
I am considering cloth diapers for baby #4 and this would be a great beginning to my collection.
I’d love to try cloth diapers, especially because of environmental reasons :)
justasmalltownmommy at gmail dot com
I love cloth diapers for a few reasons.. I’m cheap and don’t want to spend money on disposables, I like being “green” when we can and what a better way, they really do make my LO’s skin better and they are so cute and fun to shop for! I would love to win so I could finally try an applecheeks diaper! I haven’t purchased one to try yet because I would go broke if I bought every brand I wanted to try!
You can do it! It’s sooo easy!!

I love them because they’re cute and better for the environment.
I’ve been clothdiapering for a year now and I love it!.. BTW Cloth diaper manufacturers should hire you to take their pics.. those photos you took are Awesome!
I’ve been cloth diapering for 2yrs now and love how much money it saved us the first 1.5yrs (we’ve taken a break the last 6mo and only off and on because her diapers don’t fit anymore). I also love it when people get excited and tell me how cute she is and that they can’t believe she’s wearing a cloth diaper.
I’ve always wanted to try Apple Cheeks because they look so different and unique compared to other diapers.
Love cloth diapers!!!
I love to try applecheecks because I am just starting out and am looking for my go-to diaper :)
I love cloth diapers because they completely rid us of the problems of diaper rash!
I like that Applecheeks are two sizes!
I love cloth diapers because they are better for my baby’s skin and they save you so much money. We bought used cloth prefolds for baby #1. Guess what? Baby #3 is using those same diapers. Not sure how many kids have used them besides my 3, but seriously, I can’t imagine how much money I would have spent diapering 3 kids. I’ve heard wonderful things about applecheeks diapers and have always wanted to try them.
I love cloth diapers because they don’t fill up our landfill.

I love cloth diapers because for me, they actually make diapering a baby FUN. Who would have thought diapering could be fun? I know that some people think rinsing out poopy diapers is gross, but it just doesn’t really bother me. You CAN wash your hands, after all :) I totally get that not everyone wants to do it, but I love it because I just love trying out new diapers and picking out the adorable colors and prints that go on my baby’s bum. I love knowing that I’m saving money- we are budgeting to buy a house soon and cloth diapering has seriously eased my worries over having to budget in diapers for our next baby. Good luck trying out your Applecheeks!
I love how easy cloth diapers are to care for – much easier than most people think!! It also saves money and cuts down on waste, which I’m all for!

mmjohnson555@gmail.com
I love their bright colors and I love the fit I get with them on my son.
WOULD LOVE TO TRY THESE AS THEY SOUND SAFER & MONEY SAVERS THAN CONVENTIONAL DIAPERS
I have been cloth diapering BuBu since she was born(11 months). A friend of mine bragged about how much money she saved using cloth and she strongly suggested I get into it too because we are a low income family. My first thought was WOW! They are expensive! But after searching around I found them really cheap on ebay and I found some used ones in a local diaper shop. I started out with 12 diapers and went through them everyday, washing at night. I have been blessed with my friends used diapers since her little one is out of diapers now (YAY) I love cloth diapers because I have saved my family a lot of money by not buying disposables. I also love that I am bettering the earth for my kids, their kids and so on. I have not tried AppleCheeks yet but I’d love to. Thank you so much for the chance!
lovemyhnk@yahoo.com
I love cloth diapers because my daughters don’t get diaper rashes. I also love that my younger daughter is able to wear my older daughter’s outgrown diapers meaning that in the 7 1/2 weeks she has been alive I have spent $20 on diapering her (on sposies for MIL when she babysat).
Plus, they are so darn cute!!
I would like to try applecheeks because I like the idea of saving money and giving my baby a cute hiney!
I would love to try these diapers because we’re expecting a baby in February and plan on cloth diapering for the first time. These would be a great addition to our slowly growing stash:)
I am so excited to try cloth this time! As a fulltime working mama, I didn’t feel like I could manage (and daycare didn’t support cloth). This time, it will be different! Sure would be great to win and get started in style!!
I’d love to try them as my first adventure in cloth diapering, also!
I love cloth diapers because they’re better for the environment, and just all-around better than disposables! I don’t like the thought of putting disposables on my sweet baby. Thanks for the giveaway!
I would LOVE to try AppleCheeks, I think they are adorable! Hope I get the opportunity! :)
dscorziello@gmail.com
I just started cloth diapering and only three. At the moment I don’t have the resources to further my collection. I’ve been to LOTS of websites that sell cloth diapers and I haven’t seen any with a design like Apple Cheeks and I would like to give them a try.
You CAN do it! I have been cloth diapering for about 4 years. Love it and save so much money and enviroment. I have mostly used bumGenius but looking to get some other kinds….would love some apple cheeks.
Jaime
