Backyard Adventure #QuakerEpicAdventures
Sometimes I feel like I’m not doing enough new and exciting things with my kids. I work at home, so when it comes to play during the week, it’s usually done in our home our in our back yard. Who says the back yard has to be boring, though? Sometimes it’s easier than you think to turn a regular afternoon in the back yard into an adventure.
For instance, my kids recently went digging for dinosaur bones in our back yard. That’s right, I have two little Paleontologists on my hands, and armed with a couple old paint brushes and some buckets, the kids were able to have their own little dino-excavation right in our back yard.
Of course, we all used our colorful imaginations to transform simple rocks and sticks into dinosaur bones. The kids used their paint brushes to carefully sweep the dirt and sand away from the “bones”, and then we collected our finds in the specimen bags.
I don’t think the kids have ever had such a good time in our back yard, and it really showed me that sometimes it’s really just a matter of looking at the same things in a new way. Our dinosaur dig was really fun, and truly a backyard adventure!
