Chevy Malibu Eco review
Recently, I had the pleasure to spend a week behind the wheel of this lovely 2013 Chevy Malibu Eco. Isn’t it funny how fast a week can fly by when you’re really trying to savor the time? Believe me when I say that I was really sad to see this beauty go at the end of the week — it is a truly spectacular vehicle.
As a parent, I was really impressed with the safety and fuel-efficiency features included in the Chevy Malibu Eco. So, imagine my surprise (a happy surprise) when I found out that this vehicle was engineered by moms!
Who are the Malibu Moms?
Suzanne Cody, Julie Kleinert, Kara Gordon and Tracy Mack-Askew — nicknamed the Malibu Moms — were key engineers of the 2013 Chevy Malibu Eco. These accomplished women helped ensure the Malibu is fuel-efficient and safe for individuals and families in nearly 100 markets on six contents. Pretty impressive.
I have to say, I am smitten with the appearance of the Chevy Malibu Eco. I am normally not a huge fan of red as far as vehicle colors (I prefer black or white), but this particular shade of red — Crystal Red — is luscious. It’s a rich color that looks really lustrous and delicious in person.
Actually, the color of this car reminds me of my favorite lipstick.
The Chevy Malibu Eco is just as decadent inside. There is something special about sinking into the super-comfortable seat of a gorgeous car and sliding your fingers over a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Beauty and brains
Yes, I could continue to gush about how pretty the Chevy Malibu Eco is, but she’s also packed with some amazing technology that will provide you with noticeable fuel economy.
Technology and style come together to bring you a fuel-efficient drive. An ECOTEC® 2.4L engine with eAssist technology works subtly with the vehicle’s mechanics, capturing energy to help support the powertrain. The result is a remarkable EPA-estimated 37 MPG on the highway and up to 580 highway miles per tank.
With so many great reasons to choose a fuel-efficient vehicle these days, it’s great to see this feature included in Chevy’s Malibu Eco.
I could drive this car for hours
Being a busy mom of two, I don’t exactly have time for joy rides anymore. Heck, let’s be honest, I don’t have time for much of anything! Taking long drives alone or with my husband used to be one of my favorite ways to relax and really unwind, and I had some flashes of nostalgia while driving the Chevy Malibu Eco that really made me long for that again.
The Malibu provided such a smooth, quiet, but powerful driving experience. I really felt connected to the road in this car. Add to that the comfort of the driver’s seat, the luxurious feel of the steering wheel and the smooth sound of my favorite music radiating from the sound system and I was pretty much in driving bliss.
Back to reality, and a wrap-up
Yes, the 2013 Chevy Malibu Eco momentarily made me want to drop off the kids off at grandma’s house and take a pleasure-ride on my own.
However, this car is also so comfortable and functional as a family vehicle. I love the amount of leg room the kids have in the back — even with their bulky carseats — and I just felt really safe driving with my most precious cargo in the Chevy Malibu Eco.
I love the Chevy Malibu Eco, and again, really hated to see it go. Now I just need to convince my husband that we need a new car!
I had the pleasure of driving the Chevy Malibu Eco for a week to facilitate my review. No compensation was received for this post, and opinions are my own.
