Evan’s First Year: A Slideshow *
Well, I just couldn’t wait until his actual birthday (August 3rd) to post this. I finished it last night, and wow, want to talk about a cryfest. I don’t want to clutter this post up with words (I’ll write more about this milestone next week), but please grab some tissues, and enjoy this video of my sweetheart’s first year. Song is “The One Who Knows” by Dar Willams, lyics under video.
The One Who Knows
by Dar Williams
Time it was I had a dream
And you’re the dream come true
And if I had the world to give
I’d give it all to you.
I’ll take you to the mountains
I will take you to the sea
I’ll show you how this life became
A miracle to me.
You’ll fly away
but take my hand until that day
So when they ask how far love goes
When my job’s done, you’ll be the one who knows.
All the things you treasure most
Will be the hardest won
I will watch you struggle on
For the answers come
But I won’t make it harder
I’ll be there to cheer you up
I’ll shine the light that guides you down
The road you’re walking on
You’ll fly away
but take my hand until that day
So when they ask how far love goes
When my job’s done, you’ll be the one who knows.
Before the mountains call to you
Before you leave this home
I will teach your heart to trust
As I will teach my own
But sometimes I will ask the moon
Where it shined upon you last
And shake my head and laugh me say
It all went by so fast
You’ll fly away
but take my hand until that day
So when they ask how far love goes
When my job’s done, you’ll be the one who knows.

Beautiful !
He's beautiful – truly. Thank you for sharing such a big piece of your heart. He's a lucky boy.
And I think you made the perfect song choice. {From a long time Dar Williams fan.}
Love the slideshow, especially the little video clip of Evan laughing :)
so beautiful ;D thank you for sharing this with us!
Absolutely gorgeous slideshow.
This song gets me crying every time… I sang it to Oliver as a baby (who is now FOUR! *cry*) and still sing it to Andrew, and it's just so perfectly expressive of a mother's love.
Evan is such a beautiful child. I remember you writing throughout your pregnancy, and he has clearly exceeded your greatest hopes. It's great to see how the three of you have grown as a family. Wishing Evan a fun1st birthday, and many happy blessings to all of you in the years ahead!
Your were NOT kidding! i have goosebumps and tears…I have never heard this song or seen these lyrics. It made me think of all the milestones in my 6 kids lives…some of the rough road times…and the wonder a child sees of the world while we watch THEM watch it go by so very fast. Your little one is a charmer and cutie…Lucky boy…lucky mama & daddy! Wish I knew how to do this with video & pics. I am not too computer savvy.
BEAUTIFUL!
What a lovely video! He's so adorable, thanks for sharing!
Oh Crissy! i can't believe how BIG he got in just ONE YEAR. They are like beanstalks, even after a child development class, seeing it happen to real babies is just astounding. They grow so fast. Congrats to your little man.
Gorgeous slideshow! Can I ask what software or tool you used for the slideshow. I just love it!
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
That's so beautiful
Happy Birthday (aug 3rd so a little early, LOL) to baby Evan! Many blessings to your lil Angel!
That was beautiful!
I like the pictures where he's in the soccer onesie — so cute!
Absolutely beautiful! What a great way to document the first year changes. He is adorable!
Gorgeous!!
That was a beautiful video, Crissy. I grabbed a tissue after the first couple of pics. He is so adorable, you are truly blessed!!
Fantastic tribute to the little man! (love that song as well) What program did you use for the video? I love the film effect!
Adorable. This made me tear up a little thinking back over the past 10 months with my daughter and all of the pictures I wish I would have taken as well as those I have. She'll be turning 1 in two short months, and I just wonder where the time goes and how my perfect little baby has grown into a toddler faster than I ever imagined. It's bittersweet because I already miss those precious infant moments.
