Dear Crissy

Go ahead, play in the leaves!

This fall is so much different than the last. Evan was a tiny baby a year ago at this time, and he spent the better part of his days sleeping. This year, I can’t even get him to take one measly little nap most days, and he is officially on-the-move.

One of the words he has been saying lately is: “play”. He is articulating some of his new words so beautifully, and play is definitely one of them. The funny thing is, when he tells you that he wants to play, what he really means is that he wants to go play OUTSIDE.

Shout MomIt isn’t hard for me to make time to take Evan outside to play, because quite honestly, he demands it. After hearing “walk, play, walk, play, walk, play” about five thousand times in a row, anyone would catch the hint! Evan is absolutely enthralled with the outdoors, and loves picking up leaves and crunching them in his eager little fingers. He also loves sticks, trees, and bugs. I am not the outdoorsy type myself, but it’s amazing how much fun you can have when you’re experiencing the world again for the first time through the eyes of your sweet child. I can’t wait to take him to choose a pumpkin, he’s going to love it!

I am never too worried about Evan getting messy outside, but for the moms who have even the mildest hangup with messy play and dirty clothes, loosen up a little, and take this reminder from Shout!

Shout knows play is so much more than fun and games. Studies show that unstructured play helps kids build fundamental skills like problem solving, coping, and conflict resolution. In other words: play is how kids become happy, healthy adults. Fall has arrived with crisp, cool air and new reasons to go out and play. So, let your kids take that rewarding jump into a pile of leaves. Take at trip to the park and watch their imaginations run free. The one thing you won’t do is worry about their clothes; play should get messy and Shout can help.

I live in Ohio, and soon enough, this lovely fall glow will fade and winter’s cold chill will be upon us. I am trying to enjoy each fleeting moment of autumn with my darling kid, and I hope you are, too!

You know what…I use Zout right now and have for years, but seriously, for some reason this past year, it has NOT been working. I don't know if they changed the formula or if I suddenly forgot how to treat stains, but I do just as the bottle tells me, run it through and it comes back still stained. FRUSTRATING! I have 5 children – 7 people total to do laundry for. I don't have time to keep rewashing clothing to get the stains out. And i mean, simple things like DIRT. Dirt should not have to be treated 3-4 times! honestly crossed my mind last week that I ought to try Shout. This just confirmed that for me! lol
One other thing about Zout that I didn't like is that I have to wash the garment 5 minutes after treating it. Two things about that:
    1) I am not always in a position to do laundry when a stain needs to be treated
    2) I don't like leaving stains sit on clothes until I AM in a position to do laundry.

So, I'm hoping Shout will allow me to treat it and forget about it until I can wash it.
I know this sounds totally silly, but I am so serious! lol I hate having clothes ruined by stains I've treated but didn't come clean. So frustrating!

I always say I got the type of kid who is washable. Let em play and get dirty and tired.

Love playing leaves…we are in Vancouver, Canada. We are still having a contiunation of summer here and the leaves haven't started to turn or fall yet…
Have been following you for awhile, love your blog.
I use baby oxy and soak the stains in a bucket for a couple of days and re-spray with the baby oxy…
If you have time, we just launched our baby clothing line, Evan would look cute in our blue dragon Bambino Zip!
    Thanks for looking!

Your little boy certainly is a happy cutie. Hey just remember if a pretreater isn't working for you, are you shaking the formula up first, sometimes some of them separate a little in their bottles.
Read the bottle too, you'd be surprised a lot of them say shake before using.
I think Shout works great on some strains and I think Spray n' Wash works great on others. You just have to figure out what's going to work for your family and by all means read the instructions. Give the product a little time to work before immediately throwing the sprayed item in the washing machine.

That’s an adorable photo of Evan. It’s so beautiful with the fallen leaves. Here in Washington we don’t have fallen leaves here yet… that happens in November in the northwest.

Evan is so precious! There is so many cool websites, software, just places in general to get heplful advise and information. Your are very blessed to have more than one season where you live. Here it's almost summer year round, or I'm thinkng anyway with our 100* temp last week! I had some grape leaves fall from my grape vines near the front door, I was so excited, I left them there for the longest time! I'm just pretending I'm in the mid-west, where my son is in college! It's so beautiful back east right now. Fall in my favorite time of the year!! Evan was Charlie Brown for Halloween so like Charlie Brown, he needs to jump in a pile of leaves! LOL!
