Hocking Hills vacation at Boulder’s Edge
Recently, we packed up our two kiddos and a couple days worth of supplies for a fun and no-fuss family vacation in the Hocking Hills area of Ohio. We stayed At Boulder’s Edge, a beautiful cabin nestled in among the trees, hills, and beautiful scenery of the Hocking Hills.
We stayed in the Glacier’s Edge Lodge, which is situated in a very private area on the premises. The lodge was very spacious, and offered plenty of room for our kids to run around and play.
We particularly appreciated that the cabin came filled with all of the comforts of home. The kitchen was stocked with dishes and cookware, so we were able to prepare homemade family dinners right in our cabin with ease. We also enjoyed the large flatscreen TV and the entertainment options on the cable.
For adults, the lodge had a game room with a pool table and darts, as well as a hot tub, which of course, we took advantage of!
Quiet mornings, peaceful afternoons, romantic evenings. Rediscover each other in our secluded log cabins located in the heart of Hocking Hills. Each of our rental cabins are nestled on more than 15 acres of pine forest to provide total privacy. Let nature surround you with her magical sounds and smells of days long ago. Enjoy songbirds, deer, wild turkey and many others in their natural surroundings. Hike the numerous trails leading to waterfalls and natural bridges, take a canoe trip, browse through shops featuring the art of local craftsmen, book a massage for two – our own staff masseuse will come right to your door, or simply kick off your shoes, lay back in a hammock and sleep the day away. The perfect getaway awaits! So don’t waste another minute – we ahve the perfect Hocking Hills Cabin for you! (via At Boulder’s Edge)
What we enjoyed the most was the spacious area behind the cabin, which also had a cool tipi for Evan to play in. At Boulder’s Edge is also a Tipi Retreat, and their other tipi’s are full size and are so popular they stay booked much of the year!
If you’ve never been to the Hocking Hills in Ohio, let me assure you, it is a gorgeous area.
The Hocking Hills is a deeply dissected area of the Allegheny Plateau in Ohio, primarily in Hocking County, that features cliffs, gorges, rock shelters, and waterfalls. The relatively extreme topography in this area is due to the Blackhand Sandstone (so named because of Native American graphics on the formation near Newark, Ohio), a particular formation that is thick, hard and weather-resistant, and so forms high cliffs and narrow, deep gorges. For the adventurous family, you can hike to nearby caves right from your room At Boulder’s Edge. Zip-lining activities are also very close to the cabins.
Unfortunately, when we were visiting, it rained most of the time. We pretty much hung out around the cabin, but it was exactly what we needed as a family. Serene time to play and bond.
We even had our first weenie/marshmallow roast as a family, which was really fun for Evan.
Zach and I actually got married in the Hocking Hills, so this area holds a special place in our hearts. If you live in or near Ohio, and you’re looking for a magical place to take a trip with your family, be sure to mark this spot on the map, and check out At Boulder’s Edge for your cabin (or tipi) rental!
My family was provided with lodging to facilitate this post. No additional compensation was received, opinions are my own.
