Easy Homemade Baby Food *

Nuk Baby Food Masher

Kara recently turned 6-months-old, and you know what that means — time for solids!

I decided that I wanted to try to make more homemade baby food this time around, and for Kara’s first experience with solids I chose to simply mash a fresh banana for her.

I mash bananas and other fruits and vegetables for her in this simple yet effective product from Nuk’s new Freshfoods line. The Freshfoods Mash & Serve Bowl makes preparing fresh homemade baby food a breeze. I love that this is such a basic idea that helps you more easily mash the food, but doesn’t take up a lot of space or require electricity or batteries.

The Freshfoods Mash & Serve Bowl is also simple to clean up. You can easily wash it in the sink, or throw it in the dishwasher.

Aside from fruits like bananas that are already soft, I’ve been steaming vegetables for Kara and mashing them in the Freshfoods Mash & Serve bowl.

Kara particularly loves sweet potatoes and this creamy, delicious banana avocado mixture I make for her!

Avocado & Banana Baby Food

A creamy homemade baby food (appropriate for babies at least 4 months) featuring two vitamin-packed first fruits, banana & avocado!

Ingredients:

1 Ripe banana
1 Ripe avocado

Directions:

Cut up one ripe banana and remove meat from a ripe avocado. Combine the fruit and mash to a creamy texture, adding a little water if needed to loosen.

I was provided with the Mash & Serve Bowl from Nuk to facilitate this review. Opinions are my own.

I have always tried to feed my girls homemade baby food, but sometimes it was difficult. Having to cook and puree all that food was time consuming. Now that I am expecting it would be nice to try something easier this time around.

I would love to win this and be able to make homemade baby food. I don’t have the extra money for one of the electric/battery operated machines, and I love that this is basic and easy to use. My daughter is 10 months old, and while she is beginning to eat table foods, I do still need to smash up steamed veggies and fresh fruits for her to eat most of the time.
