Embrace The Beauty Of Imperfection And Mom On!
I’d like to thank Yoplait for sponsoring this post.
Wow, I really found myself nodding in agreement (and giggling a little) while watching this Mom On video from Yoplait.
Before I became a mother, I really had it all figured out. Well, I THOUGHT I had it all figured out, that is!
I was going to breastfeed my baby until he was at least one year old, feed him only whole, organic foods, and I definitely wasn’t going to let him watch too much TV or play video games.
It’s funny how this big tsunami called LIFE hits you all at once when you give birth to your first sweet, precious baby. So many of the things that I thought I’d do as a parent ended up going out the window because SANITY. It’s just impossible to be everything to everyone, all the time.
I’ve suffered through so much mom-guilt over the years. I didn’t breastfeed the first time around. I don’t have baby books for either of my kids. I don’t take enough photos. When my son was three, he ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches three times a day for a month solid.
The list goes on and on.
Now that my kids are a little older, I’m dealing with a new source of mom guilt.
I work from home, so I feel this extreme pressure to be present at every single one of my kids’ school parties, field trips and book fairs. Honestly, even though I feel like other people are judging my situation, I know that I’m putting the pressure on myself. I’m not sure why I feel so guilty for working and earning a living. It’s crazy, really!
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE being there for my kids on these special days, but just because I work from home doesn’t mean that I don’t work, or that I’m available to attend 437 events at school every year. Plus, I sort of secretly hate chaperoning field trips where I’m responsible to watch other people’s kids in addition to my own. Shhhh….!!
Needless to say, I’m all about Yoplait’s Mom On initiative. It’s time to stop judging moms, and it’s time to stop putting so much pressure on ourselves. It’s time to just find a little joy in these years we have with our children and to Mom On!
I’m really excited to let you all know that I’ll be working with Yoplait again in the coming months. I really feel like Yoplait’s goal of empowering and lifting up all moms really aligns with my personal philosophy and the mission of Dear Crissy.
I can’t wait to share more fun posts, tips and recipes in partnership with Yoplait this year so I hope you’ll subscribe and stay tuned! Now, I need to get a little work done today, so I’m popping a straw into three containers of Original Yoplait (one for each kid and one for myself) and declaring myself the Queen of Snack Time.
