Look at this photo. Is this not the most gorgeous piece of yellow cake with pink frosting you have ever seen IN YOUR LIFE?
This piece of cake is obscenely photogenic, and if I see it on Pinterest one more time I am going to seriously lose it.
This particular cake photo comes from Bakerella, a blog I’m sure you’re all familiar with. Bakerella is similarly pink and adorable. It’s also a blog that sort of makes me want to scream and shake my fists at the Almighty.
Why wasn’t I blessed with the gift of baking things that look like they dropped straight from heaven?
Why can’t I do DIY magic and turn an old suitcase into a cute new end table? Why can’t I paint intricate patterns onto my fingernails or make some kind of crazy-complicated but amazing closet organizer out of a few plastic bins?
I have to admit, I’m a little late to the party when it comes to Pinterest. I mean, I signed up for an account a really long time ago, but only I’ve half-heartedly pinned until recently.
You see, while I’m fascinated by Pinterest and its ungodly gorgeous cake photos, I also hate the idea of my photos ending up there — my photos of the kids — anyway.
I have weird issues with image theft, copyright, and proper crediting and I just see people abusing other people’s images so often that it terrifies me a little.
However, lately I’ve come to the realization that I really can’t control my images online. I’ve always known that, but I am really accepting it now.
I am finally embracing Pinterest. It is giving me fantasies of baking insanely beautiful cakes and also of painting complicated stuff on my fingernails. For the record, I HATE painting my fingernails.
Apparently, cakes are my Pinterest weakness.

Home decorating. I cannot help it. I pin tons of images of beautiful homes and decor ideas that I will probably never do. It’s a sickness. I might need cake.

Seriously, I’ve pinned some of your pictures & the link shows plainly that they come from here, if clicked a viewer would be directed to the post the picture came from. If you’d prefer that I not pin, I will of course will certainly respect that. Please know that I only did so because your pics are lovely & I thought others would enjoy seeing them & seeing your site.
I blog photos of my kids like crazy… it isn’t that I don’t want them out there, and I know people could take them and repost them long before Pinterest, it just freaks me out on some level still. More so with time.
But no, feel free, I need to just get over it! :)
Crissy, This is your site & more importantly those are YOUR kids, you don’t need to “get over” anything when it comes to their well being. I’ve removed all pics of your children from my boards. You take lots of other pics that are great pinning materal! :)

My Pinterest weakness is food. I have a huge “Recipe Love” board and I can’t stop pinning stuff! I’m mostly attracted to anything with pasta and/or cheese. Also, frozen, icy delicious looking cocktails. Probably because I have two small children and can never find the time to just sit down and have a good drink! lol
And by the way, that cake is killin’ me… lol.

I remember seeing something that said Pinterest is like fantasy football for women. We pin all the stuff we imagine ourselves making, buying and eating if we all were Martha Stewart.
I so agree with you on that. Like Crissy, I’ve had a Pinterest account for a LONG time, but only very recently started to use it. One of my boards is “Things I Want to Make” (crafty) and it’s much bigger than the others … maybe soon I’ll actually start making things from it :)

I have the same issues with Pinterest – it’s almost impossible to control people crediting photographs the correct way. And once a picture is pinned incorrectly, it’s hard to correct that. I know I didn’t pin or credited photos correctly at first. I hope they’ll come up with a different way to run things. But I AM totally addicted to it!
My Pinterest weakness? Anything to do with interior design!

We can totally relate. I have seen what people can do with Photoshop, so I don’t post pictures of my Munchkin (well a few from the back) and we have had images stolen from us. Even with a watermark. They just photoshop it out. I would think if they put as much effort into shooting the pictures as they do stealing them…

Let me be clear that I didn’t say I like actually DOING DIY stuff. Just pinning it. Somehow it makes me feel like I accomplished something, all the same! Ha!
I have been going seriously pin-happy with autumn-themed wedding images, since I am planning my wedding, which is supposed to happen in October 2013. With all of the beautiful wedding images on Pinterest, it just may take me until 2016 to go through them all and make a whole lot of DIY wedding things happen.

Oh my goodness…..yeah that makes me want to bake a cake right now….but I know mine wouldn’t turn out like that!!
My weakness is DIY anything and pictures of house interiors that I will never have….especially walk-in-closets that you would swear is a spare bedroom!
