Seventh Generation Non-Toxic Household Products Review *

Before I had Evan, the idea of purchasing and using non-toxic cleaning products in my home was really, well, it wasn’t an idea that I had in my mind at all. I was conscious of the benefits, and of the increasing popularity of the green movement, but I just never made the step to purchase and test any non-bleach household products.

That said, post-baby I have been very concerned about the chemicals that we use for cleaning in our home. There is no doubt that using more natural, plant-derived products is best, which is why I was really excited to receive a selection of products from Seventh Generation recently.

For this review, I received Free & Clear Starter Kit, including: Disinfecting Multi-Surface, Disinfecting Bathroom, Disinfecting Wipes, Free & Clear Laundry Detergent, Free & Clear Liquid Fabric Softener, Dish liquid, All- Purpose Cleaner, Auto-Dish Pacs, Glass Cleaner, Natural Paper Towels, Seventh Gen Recycled Bag.

Needless to say, I’ve been inspired to clean our home, which is a major feat, so kudos to Seventh Generation for that! Seriously, though, I was very impressed to find that the products really do a great job cleaning surfaces in the kitchen. The major test for me, was using the Seventh Generation Disinfecting Wipes on Evan’s highchair tray. The wipes do a wonderful job of cleaning even dried-on baby food!

The one issue that I had to overcome with these products, was the smell. As someone who is accustomed to smelling bleach when cleaning, the scents of the Seventh Generation products are a big change. Don’t get me wrong, they don’t smell bad at all, just different. It’s really kind of sad when you really think about the fact that many of us have become so used to smelling harsh cleaning products and bleach that anything else seems foreign.

I love knowing that the inclusion of Seventh Generation products within our home is helping to provide a safer, healthier environment for Evan, and for our whole family!
