Dear Crissy

Sponsored video: Supporting our nations heroes

Do you have a friend or family member serving in the military?

While I don’t have a family military connection, I do have many friends online, and offline, who have spouses, friends, and family members serving overseas. I know that they are counting the months, weeks, days, hours and even minutes until their loved ones return safely home to them.

If you haven’t seen this interesting and touching video from Jeep, you should really check it out. Find out how Jeep is honoring our nations heroes, and then read below the video to find out some interested facts about Jeep’s history with our nations military.

In 1941, the U.S. Army requested a vehicle — and drove off in a hero. The Purple Heart medal is awarded for meritorious achievement or service as well as wounds received as a result of enemy action in a theater of combat. In 1943, the Marine Corps actually awarded a Purple Heart to a heroic Jeep® 4×4 vehicle named “Old Faithful” for meritorious valor and duty in combat during World War II.

I know that the holiday season can be tough for those families with loved ones serving overseas. Take a moment to visit, and you can share your support for our nations heroes via Facebook and Twitter. Sometimes a little shout-out can go a long way.

Do you have a friend of family member serving in our military? Will the be returning home soon?
