What happened to Moose and Zee?

There are a few things in my life as a parent that are always consistent.

1. If I try to make myself something to eat while the kids are napping, one of them will wake up.

2. On days when I have to load both kids up to take them to the doctor, we will have torrential rains.

3. No less than 500 times a day, I will see Moose A. Moose and Zee D. Bird from Nick Jr. on my television screen.

Yes, we started letting Evan watch Nick Jr. from a pretty early age. I am a WAHM, which means, there are times when I do need a quiet distraction for my kids. I would prefer it be coloring, or playing with blocks, but sometimes it isn’t. Sometimes it is kicking back on the floor with some pillows, a few Goldfish, and an episode of Olivia!

I know, horrible parent.

Well, after 2 years, we have become very accustomed to puzzle time, hanging out with Panda Scout, the Business Mouse, and other friends of Moose and Zee. The heavily overplayed songs that come like clockwork with each season like, Falling for Fall, The Candy Cane Song, and Believe in Spring, are all gone too, I guess.

While I did really, really wish that Nick Jr. would freshen-up Moose and Zee with some new themes and songs, I do miss seeing their bug-eyed faces, and apparently, I’m not the only one.

Moms react to the disappearance of Moose and Zee

Amanda L. says:

My daughter looked forward to Moose and Zee! In fact, she first starting repeating letters while watching them. They will be missed around our house!

According to Katherine C.:

‎I liked them because they were a little cerebral — and actually taught my kid stuff, like how to approach someone else’s dog.

I also agree with what Erin M. has to say:

My daughter preferred moose over the actual shows! This totally sucks!

So, what happened to Moose and Zee on Nick Jr.?

I guess it’s goodbye for Moose A. Moose and Zee D. Bird. According to Wikipedia:

Bumpers, songs, and interstitial games featuring Moose A. Moose and Zee D. Bird were removed from Nick Jr. at 6:00 a.m. ET on March 1, 2012, following an update of the network’s image, produced by Troika Design Group. After that, Moose A. Moose and Zee D. Bird disappeared from Nick Jr. completely. Also, on that day, the “It’s like preschool on TV” slogan was abandoned and replaced with “The Smart Place to Play”.

Apparently, there is a petition going around to bring back Moose and Zee — sign it if you want to see Moose A. Moose and Zee back on Nick Jr.!
