Dear Crissy

20 Things you didn’t know about me

20 Things you didn't know about me

1. I’m fairly introverted and prefer spending my free time alone or with close friends and family. Actually, I think the hardest part of motherhood, for me, is rarely ever being alone. I miss alone.

2. My first major in college was Psychology, though, I ended up with a BA in English.

3. My favorite movie is Lost in Translation.

4. My favorite book is Pride and Prejudice.

5. I’ve never smoked anything.

6. I don’t drink. I have a few reasons for this, but really, I just have a weak constitution and alcohol doesn’t agree with me.

7. I’ve seen the band Counting Crows in concert 8 times and I was kind of in love with Adam Duritz for years.

8. My first name is actually Cristina, and my middle name is Amber.

9. I’ve been blogging since 1996. Yep, 1996.

10. I went to grade school and high school with my husband—we even graduated the same year—but we were never more than acquaintances in school. We ran into each other again in our late 20’s (if you can call MySpace running into someone). We were both a bit lost, then, boom—glitter and hearts and babies.

11. I have night terrors.

12. I live in the country. I hated living in a rural area when I was younger but now I love it.

13. I’ve never taken a photography class. I wanted to take a photography course in college several times but it never worked out.

14. I used to paint a lot and sold my work on eBay.

15. I have a serious passion for creative non-fiction and this is what fuels me to blog.

16. I have debilitating ear pain at high altitudes. This makes driving through the mountains and flying pretty miserable, needless to say, I’m not a travel-junkie.

17. I’ve watched General Hospital off and on for most of my life.

18. I want to write a novel.

19. I’m a firm believer in the law of attraction. I feel that my successes are a result of hard work, focused (borderline obsessive) visualization and positive thinking.

20. I sort of fail at homemaking, but, I’m working on it!

  1. :) I love when others open up and reveal things about themselves. I have done it on Twitter (100 things about me) Yes…I actually spread it out over a few days…lol, I had some watchers. But I think once I start blogging again, I will do 20. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Crissy,
The more I learn about you the more and more I realize you are one neat chick. Pride and Prejudice is also my favorite book. I constantly joke I am an introvert that taught myself to be extroverted because my favorite place to be is home.

I agree with Jodi, your new photo is amazing you are a true beauty. Thanks so much for sharing your photography. You are a true inspiration for me, and it’s great to see that you can put your mind to something and accomplish such amazing things!

  3. So nice to meet you, Cristina. :) Loved number 10 and 15.

  4. Thanks for sharing more about you!!

  5. What a fun posting! I love Lost in Translation too. My “About Me” page has lots of little quirky facts about me.

    Wishing you a lovely day.

  6. I loved reading this! It gave me some explanations as to why I find myself relating to your blog and writing :)

I’m also introverted and LOVE to be alone, I’ve never smoked and I don’t regularly drink (maybe like a few sips once a year), and I used to paint a lot – still have a box of my paintings in storage. I have taken 2 photography classes though in high school and 2 in college (film, not digital), loved it so much! When I graduated high school I was actually torn between pursuing Interior Design degree or going to the New England School of Photography, I chose Interior Design but now I’m not interested in being in that field [sigh]. Sticking to photography and writing :)

    PS: You’re beautiful!

  7. So we started out having a lot in common… and then you became much more awesome as I continued down the list. ;) Love that you shared.

  8. Interesting post; I’d love to see one of your paintings.

  9. My husband and I also graduated the same year, but didn’t talk until we reconnected 4 years later.

  10. First of all, I LOVE that photo of you! You are so photogenic, and beautiful! :-)

You still have Night Terrors? That must be horrible as an adult. My daughter had them when she was around 18 months – 2 years old…they were awful! I know that Flight or Fright response is really strong too.

I’d love to see your paintings!

Me too with General Hospital, although I haven’t been so much the past couple of years. So many of the original characters were let go, I got a little disenchanted with it. Although I still love Carly, Sonny, and Luke. :-)

You sound like such an amazing, down-to-earth person.

    • Thanks so much, Jodi!

I had a lot of nightmares and did some sleepwalking as a kid, but, my night terrors didn’t start until adulthood. I think a lot of it is tied to someone keying into my room once in college. It affected me psychologically and I have irrational freak-out episodes at night convinced that someone is in the room. It takes my husband some time to calm me down and for me to “come to” and realize everything is fine.

Not getting enough sleep makes it worse, so, it’s really ramped up since I became a mom, unfortunately!

      • How scary! I can imagine that someone keying into your room would cause some fear. So sorry for you and your husband. I know it was very freaky and scary when it would happen to my daughter. I know that it did seem to happen more with her when she was over-tired too.

      • I love your new hair!! Would love to see some more photos of it. You look beautiful!

Oh wow, that must be rough having those as an adult. I used to have night terrors as a kid, and only had one at 19 that I vaguely remember. I hope you grow out of yours eventually!

I also used to blog back in 1996. Or, “blog”… I would update a static html document, haha. Then I switched to Greymatter and Blogger in the early 2000’s. I’ve been wanting to start a blog back up again for a while now.

  11. I used to paint too, but I’ve never sold my work. I did write a novel though, for NaNoWriMo.

  12. Thanks for the inspiration – you can see my post here —->
