How to Cook Butternut Squash Noodles
Wondering how to cook these fabulous butternut squash noodles? There are actually a few different ways to prepare the frozen Green Giant Butternut Squash Veggie Spirals, per the package. You have the following options:
- Microwave for 6-7 minutes on high; drain excess water
- Sauté, covered, in a nonstick skillet for 10-11 minutes; drain excess water
- Boil on the stovetop for 1-3 minutes; drain excess water
I chose to microwave my Veggie Spirals because it was so quick and easy, but all of these methods take just minutes.
My butternut squash spaghetti turned out great using the microwave method. The squash noodles were tender, without being soggy. The dish was truly delicious and something That I felt great feeding my family.
Quick tip: just be sure you drain any excess water no matter which of the cooking methods you choose to follow.
Before you pop your butternut squash spaghetti in the oven to bake, be sure to top it with several slices of fresh mozzarella cheese. Before serving, top it with plenty of chopped fresh basil.

Butternut Squash Spaghetti Bake
Sweet, tender butternut squash spirals and a savory meat sauce make this baked spaghetti super delicious!
Ingredients
- 2 pkgs. Green Giant Butternut Squash Veggie Spirals
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasonings
- 1 24 oz. jar marinara sauce
- 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
- 1 cup fresh mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Heat 1 teaspoon olive oil over medium-high heat. Season ground beef with salt, pepper and Italian seasonings; brown thoroughly. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Add the jar of marinara sauce and simmer on low, 15 minutes.
- Meanwhile, microwave Green Giant Butternut Squash Veggie Spiral packages, one at a time, following directions on the package. Drain excess water.
- Add the butternut squash noodles to the meat sauce and gently toss to combine.
- Add the mixture to a 2-quart baking dish (9x13 would also work) and cover with fresh mozzarella slices. Bake for about 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
- Garnish with fresh basil, serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
Be sure to drain the excess water on your veggie spirals for best results.
