Crock Pot Brown Sugar Pineapple Ham
Whenever a holiday rolls around I turn to this easy crock pot brown sugar pineapple ham recipe. It’s one of those simple set-it and-forget-it slow cooker recipes that delivers the sweetest and most juicy ham you’ll ever eat!
Seriously, this simple crock pot brown sugar pineapple ham is a true no-brainer recipe and even my picky kiddos really love having it on their plates.
Crock Pot Brown Sugar Pineapple Ham Recipe
With Easter right around, the corner I felt like it was a great time to share this recipe with all of you. Even though I love making ham as part of our Easter dinner, this slow cooker ham is wonderful for any holiday or even as a regular Sunday dinner.
I always make this crock pot brown sugar pineapple ham when our extended family visit from out of town because it’s delicious and zero-fuss.
There are quite a few different versions of this crock pot brown sugar pineapple ham circulating on Pinterest, but this crock pot recipe has been a favorite of mine for a long time. I love the sweet flavor that the brown sugar, pineapple and maple syrup gives the spiral cut ham.
If you don’t have any maple syrup on hand you can certainly leave that out.
The inclusion of the pineapple tidbits in this yummy family recipe is really important, though. I love the flavor that it adds to the ham and everyone loves having a few of those remnant pineapple chunks on their plate to enjoy along with each bite of ham.
I used a 6lb. bone-in spiral sliced ham for this crock pot brown sugar pineapple hame recipe, but you can certainly use any ham that you prefer. Whether it’s spiral sliced or not, bone-in or bone-out—it’s up to you! The important part is that yummy sauce created from the pineapple, brown sugar and maple syrup. It’s just SO yummy.

Crock Pot Brown Sugar Pineapple Ham Recipe
This sweet, juicy and delicious slow cooker ham recipe is easy to make but will WOW your guests!
Ingredients
- 1 bone-in spiral cut ham, fully cooked (mine was 6 lbs. - note, ANY ham will work!)
- 3 cups brown sugar, divided
- ½ cup maple syrup
- (1) 20-oz. can pineapple tidbits, undrained
Instructions
- Evenly spread 1 ½ cups of the brown sugar into the bottom of a 6 quart or larger slow cooker.
- Place the ham on top of the brown sugar. Slightly pull apart the slices of of the ham.
- Slowly pour the maple syrup evenly over the top allowing it to drizzle between the slices.
- Pour in the can of pineapples making sure to get some on the top and between the slices.
- Evenly distribute the remaining brown sugar on top. Cover and cook on high for 3 ½ to 4 hours or on low for 6 to 7 hours.
All I could find was a hickory smoke spiral, will this offset the flavor of the pineapple and brown sugar?
Made last year with a boneless ham-delicious. Love how easy the recipe is
I have used this for years but I use honey instead of maple syrup. SOOOO yummy
My ham was one large sauce when I went to serve it. I followed your recipe exact and honestly I can’t figure out what happened. Mine was a boneless spiral ham.
Please let me know if you have heard of this happening.
Can I use honey in place of Maple syrup?
Yes. That is was I do.
I was wondering ,do I put in the juice of the pineapple too ? This is the pineapple & brown sugar ham recipe. For the crock pot ?
I do see where you got, an answer as to adding the juice with the pineapple or not adding it. I want to try the recipe but am also unsure.
Hi! I’ve made this in the crock pot before and it was great. Do you think this could be made in an instapot?
Hi! Hoping you get this in time. I just did my (very last-minute) shopping for our Easter dinner (it’s midnight and tomorrow is Easter) and there was only UNCOOKED bone-in ham at the store. How long should I cook it in my slow-cooker (and at what setting) so the ham can cook and still work with this recipe? Or should I cook the ham to proper temp in my oven (in the morning) and then start the slow-cooker process (to meld the flavors)?
Do I leave it frozen
120 oz pineapple tidbits seems like a lot; is this a typo; I have 14oz can. Sounds delicious. Can’t wait to try.
Thanks
I believe it’s meant to be a ONE (1) 20 oz can of pineapple.. 🤗
It’s (1) 20 ounce not 120ounces
It’s one 20 oz
1 (ONE) 20 Oz can
Kathleen, I think the writer means one 20 oz. can.
I think what they mean is ” 1 can of 20z of pinneaple”
It’s one 20 oz can
This recipe is delicious and easy. DO NOT USE FRESH PINEAPPLE!!! Apparently the fresh pineapple has an enzyme that is cooked out of the canned fruit. This enzyme had an adverse effect on the proteins in the ham and turned it to mush.
I will say it made lasting memories of the Christmas dinner we had ham soup!
I’m going to be using this recipe over the weekend but am only using a 3lb ham. Do you recommend adjusting the cook time at all? I can’t wait to try this, looks amazing!!!
Trying it now… only used half a ham to I just eyed the ingredients! Hope it turns out good!!!
Anyway to make this but with a smaller Jan?
Has anyone tried this recipe in the oven instead of crock pot?
Thanks!
Made this earlier this year and it was a huge hit! Absolutely delicious. Easter is tomorrow and I’ll be making this again…the family is anxiously waiting for it…hope I have leftovers this time…
I got a free ham and pineapple from my wife. Making dinner for my mom and me.
I made this recipe for some friends and we could not stop eating it. Don’t leave out the maple syrup it does make this recipe over the top!
This crock pot ham was hands down super delicious! It was moist and full of flavor. I cooked a 8.5lb cooked ham for 6 hours on low. The family enjoyed it and I will definitely make it again.
I make this probably a few times a year, as well as at Thanksgiving time, and it is always a favorite! You simply can’t go wrong with this recipe, and it is so simple!
So glad you love it, Summer. Thanks for commenting!
I made this for Christmas and it was incredible and so easy.
My local supermarket had hams on sale for $.47 per pound and I got the smallest one they had (about 7-8 lbs.). It barely fit into our 6 qt. slow cooker. It was so good. I am surprised though how different websites give cooking times anywhere from 4 hours all the way to 10 hours. I think that I cooked it for 7 hours on low and it came out super moist and tender.
I love ham looking good
Does this recipe work for an uncooked ham?
Hi Trish, I have never made an uncooked ham in the crock pot. I would definitely look into the required internal temperatures and cook time for your specific ham/poundage before trying it. Sorry, wish I had a better answer for that! :)
I tried this and certainly love it!! The recipe is a keeper!! Thanks Crissy! :)
Thanks
