Like Mother Like Daughter: A Dry Skin Story

This post was made in collaboration with Curel®, a KAO Worldwide brand.

When I was a little girl I can remember watching my mom apply lotion to her skin every evening after her shower.

She was really faithful to her moisturizing routine and I always asked her if I could have a little lotion, too. I wanted to be just like my mom in every way!

My mom humored me by putting a pea-size pump of lotion into my little palm, but she would always tell me that I was lucky that I didn’t need to work hard to keep my skin moisturized.

As I grew older, my mom explained to me that her skin became dry, tight, itchy and even painful during the winter months. Even as a young adult I couldn’t really understand the concept of someone’s skin hurting because it was so dry. I felt pretty lucky indeed that I didn’t have any of those issues in my twenties, and to be honest, it never crossed my mind that I might find myself in the same struggle years later.

Well, the day finally came when I could commiserate with my mom’s dry skin plight. At around age 30 I started experiencing skin discomfort during the fall and winter months. It was like the colder it was outside the more my skin would react. I was feeling that dry, tight, itchy and painful feeling that my mom had described to me when I was a little girl. Talk about full circle!

The problem has been that it’s just really tough to find great products to combat my dry skin. After attending an outdoor concert last month and experiencing painful, itchy skin that made the whole evening miserable, I knew it was time to try something new.

I thought back to the way my mom would always moisturize her skin immediately following her shower, and a bell went off in my mind when I saw a bottle of Curél® Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer at the grocery store.

Curél® Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer was developed to be applied right after your shower, on wet skin daily. It’s amazing how smooth and silky it makes my skin feel and it seems to absorb so deeply into the skin following my shower or bath.

Some of you are thinking, hey, you can use any moisturizer following a shower, right?

Yes, you can, but having tried this with several other products I do want to point out that this formula is really unique. I’ve never had such smooth skin after my shower, and the most important aspect of the product for me is that it keeps my skin feeling moisturized and comfortable all day. I’m a believer in Curél® Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer, and when I find something that works, I want everyone I love to know about it.

Yes, I totally called my mom to tell her about this product!

  3. i don’t think I have ever used Curel. I have such dry skin, I could really use any help that I can get. I need to look into Curel. It might be a lotion that I would love.

  4. I need to give this a try. Since moving to a colder climate, my skin has been ridiculously dry. It was never like this before and the moisturizing products we already have just aren’t working.

  5. I need to get some of this. My daughter and I both have big problems with dry skin, too.
