My Holistic Beauty Routine
I’d like to thank New Chapter Vitamins for sponsoring this post.
With each seasonal shift I find that I need to adjust my skin care routine. This is even more true as I get older, and really notice that a change in temperature can impact the way my skin looks and feels.
Even though I make these minor tweaks to my beauty routine with the onset of each new season, there are certain steps that are always the same.
We often throw the phrase beauty routine around, but I’m a real believer in following a specific set of steps each day to help keep my skin, hair and nails nourished and healthy. I follow a simple, holistic beauty routine every day, and while everyone is different, this is a great starting point for anyone serious about improving the quality of their hair, skin and nails!
New Chapter’s Perfect Hair, Skin & Nails
That word routine—it’s pretty important. Getting into the routine of taking a supplement that is geared toward improving the quality of your hair, skin and nails is a great way to start your day. I take New Chapter’s Perfect Hair, Skin & Nails every day. In fact, it’s a part of my breakfast routine every morning before I wake the kids up for school.
I love giving my body fermented Biotin and a boost of certified organic Astaxanthin, Aloe, Chamomile, Maca and Reishi Mushrooms. Perfect Hair, Skin & Nails is also NON-GMO Project Verified, Gluten Free and 100% vegetarian.
Choosing products that are made from organic, whole foods is so important to me. It may seem like a small step, but all of those small steps in the right direction can really add up.
I love that this supplement is all about beauty inspired by nature, and I’ve always found that the key to achieving a natural glow is to nourish my body from within.
The first thing I noticed was that my nails were super hard and that they were growing faster than ever. I’ve always struggled with paper thin nails, but now they are healthy, strong and growing like crazy.
I’ve also noticed my hair growing faster and a certain shine that I didn’t have before.
I still have to stay on top of my skin care following the tips below, but I’ve definitely also noticed that my skin looks and feels more plump and moisturized.
Let’s just say that there is no way in the world that I’ll be dropping this supplement from my daily holistic beauty routine anytime soon. I am loving it, y’all!
I’ve mentioned this before, but, Perfect Hair, Skin & Nails is formulated with breakthrough Astaxanthin, a rare plant-nutrient from organic algae that is clinically proven to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and improve skin elasticity.* You can pick up New Chapter’s Perfect Hair, Skin & Nails supplement from Amazon.
Water, Water, Water!
Remember how I mentioned that I have to tweak my beauty routine for each season?
While hydrating is always crucial for glowing skin, I find that I need to increase my intake of water during the warmer spring and summer months. My skin tends to get a bit oily during the spring and summer. A good way to determine how much water your body needs is to take half of your body weight and drink that many ounces of water per day.
April showers bring May flowers and we also need to give our bodies plenty of water to grow and bloom and flourish!
On a side note, water is also really important when you’re cleansing your skin. When I wash my face in the morning I always spend extra time making sure I’ve thoroughly rinsed any beauty products off my skin. This may seem like a no-brainer, but you want to be totally sure that you’ve washed away all of the cleanser from your pores so your skin can breathe.
Natural Beauty Products
Speaking of letting your skin breathe, it’s so important to choose quality beauty products that won’t strip the oil from your skin and scalp.
Choose hair and skin care products that are free of harsh abrasives, parabens and fragrances when possible.
In the spring and summer months I usually try to use a light touch with my makeup, as using more foundation than what’s necessary can contribute to oily skin and breakouts. Natural, mineral based foundations and tinted moisturizers are a great choice.
Eat Whole Foods
Healthy hair, skin and nails really starts from within. As I mentioned, taking a supplement and drinking plenty of water are two integral parts of my holistic beauty routine. Eating whole foods is also a key ingredient to looking and feeling your best!
There’s no need to make this part of your holistic beauty routine complicated. You don’t need to follow any kinds of special diets or to be super-restrictive with what you eat. You just need to eat real food. It’s truly as simple as that.
Eating whole foods with a focus on plant-based foods like fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds will keep your whole body nourished. When you cut out excess sugar and preservatives you’ll find that your skin and hair will benefit. It just makes sense, right?
Sleep more, but not on your belly!
When we’re well-rested, it shows. Not only will getting more sleep make you feel better, it will be evident on your face when you’ve had a restful night’s sleep. Make going to bed early a part of your everyday holistic beauty routine.
Speaking of sleeping, I have a confession to make. I am the most comfortable at night when I’m sleeping on my stomach with my arms tucked under me and my face planted in my feather pillow.
What feels great at first ends up leaving me with a sore back and a face that’s covered in wrinkles that match the wrinkles of my pillowcase!
Sleeping on our stomach isn’t good for our neck and spine, but it’s also bad for your skin. Let your skin breathe at night by avoiding this position. You’ll thank me for it
Balancing the needs of your body, mind and spirit is really at the heart of any holistic beauty routine. I hope you benefit from trying some of my favorite beauty tips!
