My Mess-Maker in Training

I’d like to thank Clorox for sponsoring this post.

I was born a mess-maker.

It’s a running joke in my family that I can’t seem to eat a meal without ending up with at least one stain on my clothes!

When I cook, my husband jokes that our kitchen looks like it was raided by a hungry grizzly bear.

It’s true, I’m not the neatest person, and it seems that my little girl has inherited all of my messy, haphazard ways.

Messy Eater

I can remember the first time I introduced solid food to Kara. It was a bowl of mashed avocado, and she did a great job painting her high chair green that day!

Kara also loves to help me cook. The two of us together can destroy a kitchen in no time, but the laughter we share together in the process is totally worth it.

Last summer, we picked fresh blackberries in our back yard and made several batches of these berry muffins.

Imagine my surprise when I looked over to see Kara using a measuring cup to crush blackberries on the counter. I asked her what she was doing, and she told me that she was making homemade paint.

Have you ever noticed that some of the most creative people in the world are also a bit on the messy side? I know it’s true for me.

Besides, who’s got time to worry about keeping their home looking perfect all of the time? There are muffins to be baked and paintings to be painted. I’m a huge proponent of living a loud, happy and messy life.

Whether it’s Kara’s homemade paint, our latest baking catastrophe, or even those yucky germs that can make everyone sick, I always turn to Clorox ® Clean-Up ® Cleaner + Bleach. It’s perfect for quick clean-ups, and I always trust the power of Clorox® Bleach to disinfect and refresh my home. Here’s a simple guide to get you started with my fave fast clean-up product:

  1. Using the spray bottle and a cloth, remove excess dirt
  2. Spray product 4–6 inches from surface until thoroughly wet
  3. Let stand for 30 seconds (give it a little time to do its job!)
  4. Rinse or wipe clean (I usually just wipe clean)

Of course, about once a week I do a deeper cleaning on our home as well, and I use a slightly different routine.

For cleaning all of the surfaces in our kitchen and bathrooms, I use Clorox ® Regular Bleach2 2 with CLOROMAX ® and the method in the video below.

For our toilets, I don’t trust anything but Clorox ® Toilet Bowl Cleaner with Bleach. I mean, it’s a toilet. I don’t compromise when it comes to cleaning our toilets. It’s Clorox® Bleach or I move into a hotel. I may be mess-prone but I have pretty strong standards when it comes to keeping certain areas of my home super clean.

My fave trio of Clorox products leave my home smelling so fresh and clean, and I love knowing that I’ve created a clean canvas for my little mess-maker in training to continue her creative pursuits.

Let the berry-painting commence!

I’d love to hear about some of your child’s BEST MESSES or their MESSY MILESTONES. If you have kids, I’m sure you have an abundance of stories to tell! :)
