Peanut Butter Smoothie
Sometimes I just CRAVE peanut butter and it’s why I’m in love with this easy peanut butter smoothie recipe. The thing is, you don’t use traditional peanut butter in this smoothie—you use powdered peanut butter!
Do you ever get a craving for peanut butter so strong that you grab a spoon and head straight for the jar? Yeah, that’s absolutely NEVER happened to me, either. :) Instead of putting a lock on the peanut butter jar I’ve really been loving PB2 (powdered peanut butter) in my recipes as a mostly guilt-free option.
Peanut Butter Smoothie Recipe
The first time I heard about PB2 was when I had started a health and fitness plan a couple years ago. One website I frequented recommended stirring a tablespoon of PB2 into some yogurt for a low fat treat.
The process by which they make PB2 basically presses all of the fat and oil out of peanuts leaving you with a lower calorie peanut butter powder. When you add liquid to the PB2 it resembles peanut butter but it’s much lower in fat and better for you.
PB2 is a wonderfully flavorful ingredient that’s perfect for adding to smoothies like this yummy peanut butter smoothie.
Of course, this peanut butter smoothie is loaded with plenty of other delicious ingredients as well, namely bananas and vanilla yogurt.
Whether you’re watching your weight or not, we all need a treat every once in a while and this peanut butter smoothie really delivers on sweetness to quench those cravings.
The thing with smoothie recipes is that they’re really quite versatile. If you don’t have vanilla yogurt on hand, plain yogurt works fine. You may want to add just a splash of vanilla extract if you want to get that vanilla flavor.
Don’t have PB2 on hand? You can always just add 2-3 tablespoons of your favorite creamy peanut butter to this easy peanut butter smoothie to achieve similar results.
If you’re looking for a more decadent smoothie you could even stir in some chocolate syrup or top with whipped cream.
Or both. I promise I won’t tell!

Bananas ruin most smoothies for me, what else can I use to get the same consistency?
Avocado or mango make good replacements for consistency. **Frozen** pineapple works pretty well, but I’ve found that there can be some tough bits left in the smoothie if not blended well enough.
My daughter uses powdered peanut butter in her smoothies but she lives in Nashville. Do Houston supermarket carry with protein powders?
I mix sugar freecool whip, 8oz, with 1/4 cup PB2 with cocao, drop spoonfuls on a waxed paper lined cookie sheet and freeze. YUMMMMMM
OMG!!! ……. DELICIOUS ??? AND FILLING!!!!! I did add some chocolate syrup around the cup to give it a nice look.
Bananas ruin it for me and so many smoothie recipes use frozen bananas. What can I use in place of bananas to get the same consistancy/feel?
I used almond milk and left out the yogurt and was still delicious.
My husband loved it too!
