Blueberry and Fig Smoothie Bowl

We’re huge fans of fruit in our house, especially berries and figs, so this recipe is a real hit. If you really could turn into what you eat, our son would be either pasta or a blueberry!

Figs are a bit more of a treat, but a sentimental one to us. An entire decade ago when my husband and I were only dating we joked that we would combine our last names to make up a new one, that made up name was Figg.

To this day our friends and family (along with ourselves) refer to us as the Figgs, still puts a smile on my face.

This super tasty morning starter or afternoon boost will take only minutes to whip up but keep you going for hours!

I love having blueberry smoothies in the morning because they are loaded with healthful antioxidants.

Hemp hearts are great because they are loaded with Omega-6 and Omega-3, essential fatty acids that have heart health and anti inflammatory benefits.

Smoothie bowl with blueberries and fig

Ingredients:

Smoothie

2 cups frozen organic mixed berries, the mix I used was cranberries, tart cherries, blueberries and raspberries. 
A good handful of your favorite greens, I used kale in this. 
¼ to ½ cup of cold water

Topping 

Super ripe fig
1/2 of fresh blueberries 
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon hemp hearts 

 

 

Instructions:

Blend together the smoothie ingredients (start with water on the bottom, then fresh greens and top with frozen fruit, this order will help your blender whip everything together faster and be easier on it).  Pour into your favorite bowl(s).  Top the smoothie with the ingredients listed above or your favorite variations.  

 I laid them out in lines but you could certainly sprinkle all over and mix in from the start.  Enjoy your smoothie bowl right away.
