Dear Crissy

7 Ways to Feel Refreshed & Energized

I’m really excited to be partnering with New Chapter Vitamins over the coming months to share tips and tricks to help you look and feel your very best in 2017. I wanted to kick off the year by talking about something I’ve been working on for the past few months, and that’s finding ways to feel more refreshed and energized every day!

Let’s jump right into the list, shall we?

7 Ways to Feel Refreshed & Energized - Ever wonder why you feel tired all the time? These tips will help give you a boost of energy!

  1. Enjoy an Active Lifestyle

Don’t worry, the first person I’m pointing a finger at on this one is myself! It can be difficult to stay active during the week when you do most of your work at a desk. That said, one of the best ways to feel more alert and energized is to incorporate more activity into your daily routine. This kind of movement will get your blood pumping, literally, which is great for your overall health and for fighting off fatigue. Thirty minutes of exercise per day is ideal for a healthy lifestyle, but anything you can do to get moving more than you are now will be beneficial.

I like to take five minute stretch breaks frequently during my work day. If you can fit a brisk walk in on your lunch break, that’s even better!

  2. Quality Nutrition

Food is such a powerful force in our daily lives, and eating a nutritious and well-balanced diet can be key in feeling well. If you feel you need more energy support, look to your diet to make sure you’re getting enough whole foods including vegetables, fruits and lean meat.

If you’re eating a lot of sugar and processed food, this is a great time to start making healthy changes and reaching for an apple instead of a bag of chips when you need a quick snack at work.

Of course, beyond the food you eat, you can also support your nutrition foundation daily with a great multivitamin. I like New Chapter® Every Woman™’s One Daily Multivitamin, because it’s expertly formulated for active women with nutrients for energy, stress, immune, heart and bone support.*

Processed with VSCO with 5 preset

This is my absolute favorite vitamin because it is different than other multivitamins.  It is made with easily digestible vitamins and minerals that have been fermented with probiotics and whole foods, and it’s gentle enough to take on an empty stomach.

Why are New Chapter vitamins fermented?  For thousands of years, societies have recognized the benefits of fermented foods.  For decades, New Chapter has studied the power of fermentation, and uses a proprietary fermentation method for all its vitamins and minerals.  The result is a nutrient-packed fermentate that has many beneficial factors, including nature’s immune-boosters called beta-glucans.  I’ve taken so many vitamins over the years and I’m so happy to have finally found the right vitamin for my lifestyle.

New Chapter Every Woman’s One Daily Multivitamin is made with certified organic vegetables and herbs, Non-GMO Project Verified, and contains superfood herbal blends that include ginger, organic turmeric, chamomile and European elderberry.* You’re going to love this vitamin!

  3. Plenty of Sleep

  4. This one seems like a no-brainer, right? Well, if you’re like me, you may be in a state of denial about your ability to stay up late and still lead a productive life.

I sometimes like to think that I’m still 19 and have the kind of energy that can study all night for a final and still make it to class with bright eyes the next day. Let’s be honest, those days are gone!

Getting plenty of sleep (along with treating yourself to a great diet and daily multivitamin) are ways you can respect your body. A respected body is a well-rested body.

  5. Positive Thinking

You might not even realize it, but stress could be doing a number on your energy levels. The first step is to identify the issues in your life that are causing you anxiety or emotional stress.

I help relieve stress daily by taking the time to practice deep, cleansing breathing and by keeping a positive mindset.

Believe it or not, getting more exercise, proper nutrition and better sleep can actually help alleviate some of that stress!

  6. Stay Hydrated

Did you know that when you’re dehydrated, your heart actually sends oxygen and nutrients to your brain, muscles and organs at a slower pace? This can make you feel quite lethargic, which is why you should make hydration a huge priority in your day.

Try to avoid sugary or caffeinated drinks and go for old faithful—plain water!

  7. Lay Off The Caffeine

While you may think that those tasty mugs of coffee are powering you through your day, they may be causing you to feel tired more often. Caffeine can give you a quick burst of energy, but when its effects wear off, you’re left needing more to feel energized again.

Too much caffeine in your diet can also keep you awake at night, which is another contributor to feeling tired!

  8. Get a Check Up

From anemia to thyroid conditions, there are many medical reasons you could be feeling tired. If you’ve addressed points one through six and you still find yourself feeling tired, it’s time to call your doctor!
