Ingredients

Hurst’s HamBeens 15 Bean Soup
8
cups
chicken broth
low sodium
2
ham hocks
about 1 to 1½ lbs.
1
large
onion
chopped
1
clove
garlic
minced
1
teaspoon
chili powder
1
can
diced tomatoes
14.5 oz.
Juice from 1 small lemon
Instructions
Sort through the beans and rinse them thoroughly.
Pour the beans into the crock pot. Add the chicken broth, onion, garlic, and chili powder, then stir to combine.
Place the ham hocks into the mixture. Cover and cook on high for about 4 hours, or until the beans are tender.
Remove the ham hocks from the crock pot and let them cool slightly. Pull the meat from the bones, discarding any fat or bones.
Return the meat to the crock pot. Stir in the flavor packet from the bean package, the diced tomatoes, and lemon juice.
Continue cooking for an additional 30 to 35 minutes.
Notes
If preferred, using the same method cook on low for 6 to 7 hours.
