BBQ 15 Bean Soup

Ingredients

  • 1 package Hurst’s HamBeens 15 Bean Soup
  • 8 cups low sodium chicken broth
  • 1 pound smoked sausage sliced
  • 1 large onion diced
  • 1 large green onion diced small
  • 1 large green pepper diced
  • 1 14.5 oz. can diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce I suggest a sweet-style, brown sugar sauce

Instructions

  • Sort beans and rinse thoroughly. Pour beans into a slow cooker. Add the chicken broth, onion, green pepper, and the onion, and stir. Cover and cook on high for about 4 hours, or until beans are tender.
  • Add the smoked sausage, flavor packet, diced tomatoes, and BBQ sauce. Stir and simmer an additional 30 minutes, or until sausage is heated through.
  • Garnish with green onion.
