Cajun 15 Bean Soup Recipe

I’m a big fan of Hurst’s traditional 15 Bean Soup, but, I was a little skeptical about veering too far from my comfort zone to try the Cajun variety of this product.

I’m not always the most adventurous person when it comes to trying new flavors!

Since I had the product on hand, as well as some leftover ham after a recent family dinner, I decided to give the Cajun 15 Bean Soup recipe a whirl.

I followed the quick cook instructions on the bag, with just a couple minor changes. Y’all, I have to tell you that I am honestly in LOVE with the flavor in this soup, and I do believe Hurst’s Cajun 15 Bean Soup has become my new favorite variety!

Hurst's 15 Bean Cajun Soup

The Cajun seasoning packet included in the bag is really pretty magical. It’s got such a tasty blend of spices, but it’s definitely NOT too spicy!

I think what I really sent this recipe over the top was the inclusion of some leftover ham. The ham added just a touch of delicious sweetness to the soup.

If you find yourself with leftover Easter ham, this is such a great way to utilize it.

Don’t have any ham on hand? You can add your favorite protein to this dish. Smoked sausage or fresh shrimp would be amazing!

I would also suggest making a pan of my buttermilk cornbread to accompany this soup. My kids loved dunking their cornbread in the soup, and again, it adds some wonderful sweetness which pairs so nicely with that Cajun spice.

If you’re like me and you’ve been eyeing Hurst’s Cajun 15 Bean Soup (you find it in the dry beans section of your favorite grocery store), trust me, it’s SOOOO good.

Yes! It doesn’t get any better than beans and ham. I can’t wait to make this. It sounds so good, and it has so much protein, fiber, and complex carbs.
