As soon as the first chilly night rolls around, my family starts asking for soup, and these fall soup recipes are the ones I come back to every year. For example, some are old family favorites, like the Navy Bean and Ham Soup that reminds me of my papaw. Plus, some are easy weeknight dinners I can dump in the Crock Pot in the morning.

Cozy Chicken Soups
When the weather turns cold, a fall chicken soup is the first thing I crave. These are light enough for a weeknight and cozy enough for a sick day.
1
White Chicken Chili with Rotisserie Chicken
Soups
This is one of my top five soups, and it’s always in my dinner rotation. Even better, a grocery store rotisserie chicken, white beans and mild green chiles all simmer together in one pot.
Chicken noodle soup always makes everything better at our house. It’s often dinner on busy school nights, because it’s close to ready by dinnertime. Plus, it tastes like grandma’s without the extra work. If you plan to freeze some, leave out the noodles.
This is my all-time favorite slow cooker soup. Tender chicken, little orzo pasta and fresh lemon juice make it bright and cozy at the same time. In fact, it’s one of the lighter, healthy fall soups on this list.
Taco night in a bowl. Shredded chicken breast, corn, beans and taco seasoning come together quickly in the pressure cooker with a few basic pantry ingredients.
I’m basically obsessed with salsa, so this one was bound to be a favorite. Salsa gives it just the right amount of heat. Also, it freezes well for a night when you don’t have time to cook.
Nothing says soup season like a big bowl of creamy soup. My mom is known for her potato soup, and we always look forward to having it on Sunday after church. So it’s no surprise these five creamy fall soup recipes are family favorites, too.

Crock Pot Potato Soup with Hash Browns
Dinner
This is my go-to weeknight dinner during the school year. A bag of frozen hash browns means no peeling or chopping. Ranch seasoning and a little black pepper bring so much flavor. It takes about 10 minutes of prep.
My husband loves this soup because it’s so creamy and hearty. It’s thick, cheesy and loaded with ground beef and tender potatoes. Even my picky teens love it, and everything simmers together in one pot.
Russet potatoes, sweet corn, smoky bacon, melted cheddar cheese and a splash of heavy cream make this chowder pure comfort. Serve it with crusty bread for an easy dinner that tastes like it simmered all day.
My family goes nuts for this one. First, Yukon Gold potatoes cook in chicken broth under pressure. Then, two kinds of cheese make it extra creamy. Top each bowl with bacon and green onions.
My mom made this for Sunday dinner one winter, and my dad said it tasted like something from a fancy restaurant. I’ve made it on snow days ever since, and it’s a cheesy way to sneak in a vegetable.
Next, these hearty fall soup recipes are filling enough to feed a hungry family on the coldest nights.

Italian Wedding Soup
Soups
Tender homemade meatballs, fresh spinach and tiny pasta in a rich chicken broth. It looks fancy, but it’s an easy recipe. Just freeze it without the pasta so it doesn’t get mushy.
This easy hamburger soup is one of my favorite ground beef recipes. It’s packed with tender potatoes, vegetables and a savory broth. Better yet, the leftovers last for days.
This is the perfect recipe to throw together after a stressful day, when I’m tired and everybody is hungry. That’s because ground beef, stewed tomatoes, frozen mixed vegetables, onion soup mix and macaroni all go in one pot.
This makes a LOT, and we happily eat it three nights in a row. Ground beef, Italian sausage, potatoes, corn, green beans, ranch-style beans and diced tomatoes with green chiles simmer with cumin and chili powder. Then, we change up the toppings each night.
Tender beef and hearty vegetables taste like they cooked all day. However, the Instant Pot does it in a fraction of the time. It also freezes well for up to 3 months.
This is my lighter take on a classic fall vegetable soup. Lean ground turkey, green beans, corn and diced tomatoes fill it up, so it’s great for meal prep, too.
A big pot of chili is one of the best cold weather soups. These two are also a fun change from a classic beef chili.

Ground Chicken Chili
Soups
I make this all fall and winter. Ground chicken, black beans and green bell peppers keep it light. The secret ingredient is cinnamon, which adds a lovely warmth.
Jalapeños, bacon, shredded chicken, cream cheese and cheddar give this chili all the flavor of jalapeño poppers. Creamy white beans (great northern beans) make it hearty. On top of that, it freezes and reheats without losing its creamy texture.
Finally, bean soups are budget friendly, filling and perfect for cold weather. In fact, these easy bean soup recipes stretch a grocery budget a long way.

Navy Bean Soup and Ham
Soups
This one makes me think of my papaw. He always had a pot of beans going on the stove. The smell of this soup takes me right back to his kitchen.
All the flavors of the popular Marry Me Chicken in a hearty bean soup. Tender chicken, a creamy tomato broth and a hearty 15 bean soup mix make it a filling dinner.
When the house starts to feel cooler, this cozy chowder brings comfort back into the kitchen. Plus, garlic and herb flavored lentils come with their own seasoning packet, so it’s easy.
Growing up in Appalachia, I know my way around a pot of beans, and this is a good one! A colorful mix of beans simmers in taco-seasoned broth, and it freezes beautifully, too.
Pinto beans, shredded chicken and Tex-Mex flavor fill the kitchen with the best aroma. That’s why it’s great for Sunday supper or feeding a crowd on game day.
A warm bread on the side turns any of these fall soup recipes into a full meal. My Easy Buttermilk Cornbread goes great with the chili and bean soups, and Pumpkin Cornbread is a fun fall twist. For dunking in potato soup or chicken noodle, try my Honey Butter Rolls. And at our house, simple grilled cheese sandwiches are a must.
Can I make these soups ahead for Thanksgiving week?
Yes. Soup is a great make-ahead dinner for the busy days around Thanksgiving. Just make a pot a day or two ahead, then keep it in the fridge. Otherwise, pull one from the freezer list above.
I hope these fall soup recipes keep your family warm and happy all season long. Find even more cozy bowls in my soup recipes, and be sure to save this list to Pinterest so it’s handy on the next chilly night!
